34% of All Phone Users play games in the United States

A new study from Pew Research Center, as part of a larger study on mobile consumption, revealed that mobile phone users are gaming at an increasing rate. Game playing has risen by more than half over the last year, bringing the total size of the mobile gaming audience to 34%.

The Mobile Access 2010 report concludes that American users are using their phones more and more for gaming, computing and other entertainment and communication related activities. The report also revealed that mobile phone users are more likely to use phones for taking videos, photos, accessing e-mail and playing music. This development in mobile gaming has helped transform the industry into a multi-billion dollar business.
